but neither is he mine.
Today is my son's 19th birthday.
Last year I asked y'all what route I should take regarding getting in touch with him.
(For those of you just now joining the show, he was put up for adoption)
I haven't contacted his family directly yet. But I did register with the International Reunion Registry. Nothing else to date.
Maybe I'll be more brave (braver? CV help me out here) this year.
And speaking of kids. The little plague carrier that we brought home last Monday is still with us. Slugbo and I spent the weekend sick. I officially have bronchitis.
That's right folks. Head cold to bronchitis in 3 days flat. That has to be a record somewhere. But thankfully I got in to the see the doc today so we can get rid of it now rather than 3 weeks from now like I tried last year at this VERY SAME TIME.
Apparently spring equals bronchitis in my land now.
And the little plague carrier...
She's an absolute doll. And there WAY too much pink and Disney Princess stuff in my house. But you know what...
I wouldn't have it any other way.

Wow. I think you took a huge step registering. Do you know where he is? I'm not sure what advice to offer you regarding contacting him except to tell you to do what feels right in your heart hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
Whatever you decide, you know I'll be here waving my pompoms in the background cheering you on every step of the way. *HUGS*
My experience with male adopted kids is that they don't often look for their 'real' parents. Men tend to be much more practical - raised by one set of parents, that's his parents kind of thing. I think you just have to let him do it on his own time frame.
I'm glad you're enjoying the 3 year old.
My heart goes out to you, sweet one.
I am happy you have a fluffy pink girl there for lots of love. So sorry you have a cold. That sucks.
You have both worlds, you know! Good and Bad all at once!
XOXOXO
I found my birth family in 1994... I was 37, started looking either in 1993 or earlier that year... was definitely worth it. If one of my siblings had contacted me sooner, I would have been interested, but not sure if I would have been interested in talking to my birth mother before then... I used to have a bunch of books about adoptee-birth-family reunions... see if you can find some, maybe that'll help!
Hugs!
The day will come, and he will be delighted to find out what a good birth mother he has. Meantime, I haven't even seen a picture of her but your little three-year-old has a piece of my heart already! What a sweetie. Thank you for giving her a loving home (and I'm glad you got seen by the doctor right away; get better!)
I respectfully disagree with Claudia, I think 'looking' for your biological parents is more social, and would depend on the environment they were raised in, along with 'knowledge of their adoption'.
